How I run a two-day kickoff

The first two days decide most of a project. Here is the agenda I use and why every hour of it earns its place.

Why two days

A kickoff shorter than two days skips the disagreements, and they come back later when they are expensive. Two days is enough to find them.

Day one is for the problem and the people. Day two is for sketches and choosing a direction. Nothing is polished.
